Earlier today, Deena Cortese took to social media to tell her followers that her one year old son, CJ needs braces on his feet because he suffers from metatarsus adductus. And that was not all! The Jersey Shore star also clapped back at some mom-shamers who previously criticized her for not making him wear shoes.
Metatarsus adductus is a common deformity that starts at birth and makes the child’s first half of the foot turn inward.
As a result, to correct the issue, they need to wear braces on their feet.
In her candid message, the mother also called out some trolls that in the past, slammed her for not making the toddler wear shoes.
‘I’ve been getting a lot of messages about CJs feet, about how he walks and mothers ridiculing me for not putting shoes on him at one years old .. please before messaging and telling me what I should do or making comments about why he is not wearing shoes.. maybe ask if I have already looked into what you see that could be wrong, more than likely I have …’
She went on to stress that ‘anything you guys notice about my son .. I have most likely already noticed it before anyone else.. I just did not think it was necessary to let anybody know why his feet went the way they do .. or the reason he is not wearing shoes .. I appreciate the concerned messages but maybe come in asking and not telling .. that does not make a mother feel great 🤷🏻♀️ CJ has Metatarsus Adductus.. and will be getting night braces to get it corrected.’
The reality TV star also shared some more details such as how long he’s had this condition as well as the reason why at this point in time he can’t wear shoes.
Apparently, while he’s had it since birth, the parents noticed at 10 months old when the child started walking.
While they’ve been ‘on top of it’ since the beginning, Deena explained that CJ’s right foot is really affected and that means he cannot wear shoes no matter how much they try.
