New fan art has Robert Pattinson’s Batman take over for Ben Affleck by donning a Batsuit inspired by the animated film Batman Ninja.
Robert Pattinson’s Batman suit has yet to be revealed, but that hasn’t stopped fan artists from putting one together. A new image features a design inspired by — but not directly lifted from – Batman Ninja, which despite the title, turned Batman into a samurai. As such, the appearance is not a 1:1 recreation of the look, but it retains elements of the design mixed in with a more typical tech-based Batsuit.
You can see the fan art of Robert Pattinson replacing Ben Affleck with the Batman Ninja suit below.
Ben Affleck portrayed Bruce Wayne across three films — Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Suicide Squad and Justice League. Though Ben Affleck was expected to do more, he decided to depart from the role for personal reasons. Ben Affleck was also originally going to write, direct, and produce his own Batman movie, but he ultimately stepped down due to not being completely satisfied with his story and wanting to shift his focus to smaller projects. As such, Robert Pattinson has taken Ben Affleck’s place in a new setting that does not specifically appear to be influenced by Batman’s past, which was alluded to in those three DC movies.
We know that The Batman will center around a younger Bruce Wayne and feature a Rogues’ Gallery of villains that reportedly includes Catwoman and The Penguin. Director Matt Reeves has also confirmed that it will not be directly based on Frank Miller’s acclaimed Year One comic and will make use of the Dark Knight’s detective skills to a greater extent than previous DC Films. It is expected to be the first chapter in a new movie trilogy with Robert Pattinson.
Directed by Matt Reeves, The Batman is set to star Robert Pattinson as the titular DC Comics hero, with Jeffrey Wright in negotiations to play Commisioner James “Jim” Gordon. Jonah Hill is also in discussions for what appears to be a supervillain role, but has not yet been confirmed to be a part of the cast.
The Batman will be released in theaters on June 25, 2021. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding Ben Affleck, Robert Pattinson and the future of the DC Extended Universe!
